Accessibility Plan

To Our Community,

Chibi Chibi Con, as a convention run by and for a diverse community, endeavors to understand the importance of hosting an event that is accessible to all. This statement, published November 28th, 2025, is thus written to assert our team’s dedication to ensuring–to the best of our ability and the extent of our power–an accessible convention.

Henceforth, the team behind Chibi Chibi Con, and all future teams, affirms that accessibility will be a core principle and consideration in every decision. As a student-run event, we see a frequent turnover of staff. In response to this, Chibi Chibi Con as an entity will see to it that accessibility becomes a core principle of our event mission. We will work alongside our host college and the Olympia community to host an event that is as accessible as possible to all.

Alongside this statement, the Chibi Chibi staff of 2026 are delighted to publish two further agencies as evidence of our commitment: a detailed list documenting our intended changes to our event beginning with the 2026 convention to improve accessibility; and the release of a new mascot, Fuwa-Fuwa (ふわふわ), who is designed to produce a positive image of and act as a loving embrace of our accessibility mission going forth.

Our team acknowledges that there will always be improvements to be made in response to circumstantial inequities. We make it our goal now and for every year after that Chibi Chibi Con is held, to host a safe, fun, and accessible event for all.

With All Our Love,

From Our Chibi Chibi Team of 2026.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF LIMITATIONS

Chibi Chibi Con wishes to acknowledge that as a convention held at the Evergreen State College, run by students of the college, there are certain instances of inaccessibility that cannot be resolved by our team.

Instances such as:

  • Evergreen State College campus being suboptimal for mobility device users;
  • Obscure pathing between points-of-interest;
  • Convention events being spread out;
  • Faulty technology;

Our team has been actively discussing, and will continue to do so, alternative methods of overcoming these hurdles that are within our power. The solutions we have devised are listed in our accessibility plan alongside our other initiatives.

ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

So that we may begin to bridge the separations in accessibility, our convention team has determined a list of initiatives to improve accessibility at our event going forward. More improvements may be made as opportunities and hurdles present themselves.

  1. Repeatedly testing powered doors and elevators prior to the convention and providing reports of functioning to the college so that early repairs may be done.
  2. Removing the dividers in the Artist Alley to allow for wider paths and more open space.
  3. Clear communication with attendees about food availability for different dietary needs.
  4. Maps and signage provided to attendees across campus marking ADA routes to events.
  5. All printed and digital writing formatted in accordance with WCAG standards.
  6. Assistance with moving across campus in the form of vehicular transportation at anticipated locations and intervals.
  7. Available seating at every point-of-interest.
  8. Prohibiting flashing props.
  9. A numbered ticket system for the maid cafe so that guests do not have to stand in line.
  10. Publish our accessibility plan on our website.

This plan will be reviewed and updated every year to meet current and ongoing accessibility needs.
